The Tango Society of Boston sponsors Mid-week Tango Dance breaks every Wednesday — Boston’s largest informal Milonga (Tango social dance) and Tango lessons.
Features a lesson in Argentine Tango for Beginning to intermediate dancers (and open to newcomers). No prior experience or partner required.
Schedule
7:00-8:00: Beginners Tango with Guillermo Merlo. This class is for beginners and those wishing to brush up some new techniques.
8:00-9:00: Adv-Intermediate Tango Class with Guillermo Merlo –Theme changes every month
This month, the Intermediate+ class wilL work on:
“GANCHOS INTERNOS”. (Inside Ganchos)
“Ganchos Internos” “inside hooks” are movements where one of the partner’s legs hooks around or behind the partner’s leg in a fluid and coordinated manner.
These Ganchos can be done by both the leader and the follower, to create a dynamic and expressive connection during the dance. They are also used to add variety and embellishments to the dance as well as to communicate emotions and sensations during the dance
Because Ganchos Internos require good control of balance, posture and embrace technique to ensure they are performed safely and harmoniously, Maestro Guillermo will review and emphasize the correct techniques to practice to achieve this.
