On Thursday, Oct. 12, Javier will teach a workshop on classic figures in in tango salon from 6:30-7:30pm followed by the milonga 7:30-10:30pm including an exclusive live performance with Fernanda Ghi!

Javier Rodriguez is one of the most renowned masters of Argentine Tango. His tango – pure, traditional, elegant — comes from the authentic roots of Villa Urquiza in Buenos Aires. Since 1998, he has been touring extensively at the most important tango festivals across the world. He is known not only for the elegance, musicality, and emotion in his dance, but also for his pedagogy, which came as a result of his passion and respect for the traditional Argentine Tango. In an interview in “La Milonga Argentina”, Javier was referred to as a young “old” milonguero: a dancer with the heart of an old milonguero in a young man’s body. Although the tango has evolved through the years with new elements added, Javier remains dedicated to the tango that he has known and has come to love: the tango that emphasizes the embrace, the walk, the music, the feeling, and the traditional codigos of the milongas. Javier is a continuous inspiration for many many tango lovers who want to discover and find the pure, authentic tango!

The Harvard Milonga is in our beautiful weekly location: the Barker Center Cafe at 12 Quincy Street. A rotunda with high windows on all sides, pristine hardwood floor, tables, and a true circle for a perfect ronda right at the heart of Harvard’s campus. Nearby metered parking on Mass Ave., Harvard St., and Quincy St. Garage at Broadway. Directions: walk inside the Barker Center, past the security desk, through the double doors, and straight to the end of the hall.
